About Your Experience
This experience is a superb opportunity to learn about wine during a full one-day workshop held in the relaxed setting of a charming and newly converted barge situated in the new riverside quarter of Fountainbridge.
Guests will be welcomed at 9.30 am, for a full day workshop which will introduce the classic grape varieties used to make still wine, focusing on the influences of region, climate & wine-making methods on the wines produced. Sparkling, dessert and fortified wines will also be discussed.
Throughout the day, the theory will be illustrated through the tasting of 18 wines. Food and wine matching principles will be introduced and put into practice during a revealing food and wine matching exercise.
Your host for the day has a wealth of knowledge and currently runs the sell-out Edinburgh Festival fringe event "Wine School at the fringe". She is also a recommended Tutor for the Wine and Spirit Education Trust and was nominated for the Riedel Trophy "WSET Educator of the Year 2007".
You will leave feeling confident in knowing what wines you like, why you like them and inspired to explore further into this fascinating subject.
