About Your Experience
Welcome to Cragganmore House, located in the idyllic heart of Malt Whisky country, the venue for this highland cook school experience.
This highland break offers two people the expertise of Michelin chef Tony Allcott during a fun and informal experience. Arriving on the first night, you'll have dinner and relax in their informal living spaces after a hard week!
On the first morning you’re welcomed into the kitchen where Tony will show you the ropes and it’s straight down to preparing dinner for that evening. Whether you are a novice or a seasoned pro, Tony will tailor his tuition to your level. Once dessert is created, you’ll sit down for a locally sourced and seasonal lunch.
Start the afternoon with a tour of the exclusive Cragganmore distillery (May - October, outside these times this is another local distillery) and a sample of this complex and characterful whisky. After the tour you’re welcomed back to Tony’s kitchen (literally across the road) where you will make the starter and main course for dinner that night. The area has many interesting walks and tourist attractions and after cooking you are free to explore. Alternatively you can sit back in one of the charming public rooms of the victorian-era Cragganmore house before dinner.
After dessert you’ll experience a whisky sampling session. Learn about the different styles of Scotch whisky, from Lowland, Highland, Speyside and Island malts.
On the second morning you’ll have a full cooked breakfast to see a complimentary round of golf at Ballandaloch golf course, situated in the heart of Ballindalloch Castle, or take a trip on the Strathspey Steam Railway from Broomhill or Boat of Garten to Aviemore.
